Bartłomiej Chwilczyński

Bartłomiej Chwilczyński (born 1987 in Kraków, Poland) is a visual artist and printmaker. He works mostly with the techniques of collage and stone lithography, often experimenting with oil painting, mixed media and spatial objects. In 2011 he received the Grand Prix ‘Graphic of the Year’ of ASP Kraków. In 2012 he graduated from the Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków with a Masters degree in lithography. Series titled Accidentaly consisted of unique abstract lithography monoprints, focusing on accidents in the creative process. He continued his studies, fnishing with a degree of Doctor of Arts (PhD) in 2019. His thesis ‘Forgotten Worlds’ was an exploration of childhood, identity and belonging. As
part of his research he travelled to Canada to revisit places and memories from his early childhood in the context of his art practice. In 2019 Chwilczyński started an ongoing series, titled JOURNEY, developing his own technique including elements of calligraphy, lithography and collage. In these series, bold colours and black Japanese ink are used to create an abstract space for contemplation, and invite viewers to look inside and fnd their individual interpretations within. His solo show presenting litographic collage, mapping and installation from 4 years of JOURNEY series was an inaugural exhibition of Foundation Arte Novum in Sieciechowice, Poland in 2023.
